Ersel Akpinar

Principal Lawyer, Sydney
Ersel is a senior corporate and commercial lawyer with over 20 years experience advising global businesses in Australia and across the Asia Pacific region.

Having started his career at top-tier law firms, Ersel is an accomplished, specialist and progressive legal advisor who is uncompromisingly dedicated to his clients at Lawthentic.

Over the years, Ersel has worked across corporate, commercial, litigation and property law and has represented multinational corporations, high net worth individuals and public figures. His approach is to quickly identify and assess the key legal and commercial issues and then deliver strategic advice that is clear, concise, client-focused and always with a practical real-world application.

Ersel combines his significant legal expertise with an in-depth knowledge of trade, commerce and industry. He is proactive, highly commercial and a creative problem-solver. His value-driven approach and experience in dynamic environments make him an integral part of his clients’ business.

Ersel’s practice comprises of corporate governance and structuring, all forms of commercial contracts, complex, technical and cross-border transactions, advisory, compliance and dispute resolution with a special interest in intellectual property, data protection, technology products and services and digital media. He assists clients in putting robust systems in place that help safeguard against future issues, mitigate risk and encourage growth.

With extensive media training and experience in television, radio and print, Ersel has appeared as a legal commentator on Channel 7’s Sunrise, provided commentary to The Sydney Morning Herald and drafted articles that have been published in various industry magazines.

When he’s not helping his clients navigate the commercial law landscape, Ersel applies the same discipline and vigor to his other passions: health and fitness and excellent food and wine.

Katie Akpinar

Principal Lawyer, Sydney
Katie is a highly skilled corporate and commercial lawyer with considerable experience across a variety of business areas and industries. She advises a range of organisations across the APAC region from larger established operations to innovative, fast-growing ventures. Combining commercial expertise with top-tier law firm experience, Katie utilises both her corporate acumen and regulatory expertise to formulate strategic solutions that meet client’s objectives and needs. This grounding in industry is key to Katie’s ability to effectively understand where an organisation is going and what are the obstacles that might stop it getting there. Katie has developed strong, trusted relationships with executive-level management, in-house counsel and other business leaders in corporations spanning a wide range of industries and has substantive expertise working with companies based in the publishing, technology and software sectors. Katie has advised on a vast array of corporate and commercial matters, including complex bespoke contracts, intellectual property, privacy and data protection related matters. She has also consulted on sophisticated technology transactions and innovative software as a service and licensing solutions, as well as conducting technical due diligence and analysis. With a proven ability in handling varied legal and business matters and collaborating in fast-paced environments, Katie is consistently driven by her clients’ growth.
